Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013 Runway Review

The Hamptons season is over but Rebecca Minkoff, who had a pop-up in Montauk this past summer, must have found herself inspired. Taking a cue from summer pool parties, the collection opened with a summer white top and coordinating pants finished with a degrade floral print. Said floral print made its way back on a number of occasions, alternated with other vibrant saturated prints, most of which were set against white, the designer's running neutral this season.

Most looks were cut to have a relaxed silhouette and there were a number of sporty pieces including drawstring shorts, print jackets, loosely fitted zipper vests, and casual jumpsuits, all of which will make for great summer staples. The floral degrade zipper vests and floral jackets in particular made for fantastic causal statement pieces that will work well for Minkoff's "effortlessly cool girl" clientele.

Flared pants, sheer fabrics, cropped tops, lace-up shorts, blouses tied in the front, structured bags with long shoulder straps, and print bandanas gave a rock edge, all of which worked wonderfully set to a live DJ Cassidy set.

For after-dark, Minkoff also had some body-con looks in her offering, most notably a new silhouette worn by Hilary Rhoda who closed the show wearing a fitted mini with wide, short sleeves.
