Donna Karan Spring 2013 Runway Review

The majority of the looks were head-to-toe monochrome (in some cases the clothes even matched the models’ makeup) and in true Donna Karan style, were focused on drape and cut with minimal embellishment, which made their standout appeal all the more impressive. Sequin embellishments did pop up however in eveningwear where they made for beautiful floor sweeping – and in many cases underwear-exposing – gowns.

Lightweight and sheer fabrics dominated the runway giving an ethereal quality to many of the looks as they glided down the runway. The collection was impeccably styled and featured one of the best hair/makeup looks of the season. Each of the models had their hair tied into a bun with a lucite headband; the beauty look worked equally well paired with the designer’s thigh-high slit wrap dresses and fringed bolleros, as it did with her sheared woven jacket and gowns.
