Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 Runway Review

Delicate daywear (namely dresses and skirt suits) embellished with leather macramé, ruffles, bows, and pleats shown in slender silhouettes dominated Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2013 lineup. With sixty looks there was a wide variety when it came to colors and patterns, but for the most part, de la Renta kept things upbeat with brights and pastels.

While many designers loosened up silhouettes this season, de la Renta kept his collection fitted with the occasional full skirt (which made for particularly fantastic gowns). Adding a bit of edge to his collection this season, the designer opted for some latex and leather looks as well, though there was nothing tawdry about them. One in particular stood out, a red latex top worn with a blue angled shoulder blazer and a high-slit white skirt — if that's not a killer Fourth of July outfit, I don't know what is.
