You don't have to love fashion to have heard about Holmes & Yang's debut NYFW presentation — it has been everywhere from the tabloids to the fashion blogs. Katie Holmes is no stranger to press, especially lately, but her collection with her stylist Jeanne Yang isn't tabloid fodder, more like primed for the editorial pages of the world's glossies.
From what we've seen of the duo's wares on Holmes, the pair likes to play with soft menswear shapes in luxe fabrications. This collection was no different. This past week, Holmes was named the first face of Bobbi Brown, no doubt contributing to a perfect press story, but the cosmetics maven praised Holmes' natural beauty and it's that same sensibility that translates to the collection. The presentation wasn't perfect, and the pair still has work to do, but it was a strong start that will surely play well with the buyers. It featured a great mix of slick separates and wearable daywear, but it has to be noted that if the collection hadn't had the superstar's name attached it would have barely registered as a blip on the NYFW radar.
