Nicole Farhi Red Label Spring 2013 Runway Review

This morning, we were delighted to attend her S/S13 Show at the Royal Institute of British Architects, London, and with the legendary Anna Wintour in attendance, it was clearly set to be quite a show. Her inspiration for the collection stemmed from Edward Burtynsky’s photographs, which triggered memories of a visit to the marble quarries of Carrara in Tuscany. As a result, her collection consisted of a shifting palette from white to slate, with rich honey, powdery sienna tones, and the odd splash of indigo.

Her signature pleats were also prominent, as they featured upon drop waist dresses and trench coats, in dry, chalky and textured fabrics, with leather strips strategically placed upon the polyester pieces to create the illusion of structure. The collection definitely provides the perfect inspiration for those summery European trips abroad.
