Inside Tata Naka’s Pool Party at London Fashion Week Spring 2013

Tata Naka aims to provide their customers with timeless pieces which they will fall in love with, and there is always an element of humour incorporated into their designs. The design duo’s signature is their specialty in-house prints, which are based upon their own paintings and photography.

Their S/S 13 collection was showcased at London Fashion Week’s hub, Somerset House, and we were welcomed with fruity summer smoothies, Greece style music, and a flamboyant beach themed party. As we took our places beneath parasols and amidst deck chairs covered with the label’s signature prints, the models showcased the collection around the swimming pool set with an exotic Hawaiian backdrop.

This season definitely channeled the 1960s housewife with waist-cinching outfits and the era specific bouffant, but it was elements such as strategically placed cut-outs and mesh inserts that brought the dresses up to date. Pastel shades were key, as tie dyed garments with their signature printed drawings made an appearance, and embellishment was glamorous as floral beading arrangements lined cuffs and hems. Outfits were completed with heavily bead embellished loafers, multi colored mid-heels, or floral printed flats.

There was definitely an element of fun in the collection, and we couldn’t help but think of the pop star Marina Diamandis who is currently sporting a very similar look. We’re sure that she’ll be first in line to snap up some of those pieces!!
