Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2013 Runway Review

Equestrian meets rock 'n' roll in Massimiliano Giornetti's incredibly luxurious Spring 2013 Salvatore Ferragamo collection. While there may have been a lot of leather for a spring lineup, the impeccable craftsmanship and crisp tailoring of the buttery soft looking leather made it more than acceptable. Similarly, the color palette was kept to black, neutrals, and khakis, but mixed with masculine cuts it gave a welcome edge to the collection.

While there was a softness to the leather, particularly leather tops, they appeared far from lightweight especially when long belts were added in to long and short cinched-at-the-waist coats. High collars gave jackets an equestrian feel as did over-the-knee boots. Continuing with the edgy feel, Giornetti fashioned a number of looks out of exotic skins and kept his trousers and skirts loosely draped.
