Balenciaga Spring 2013 Runway Review

Nicolas Ghesquière showed quite a mix in his Spring 2013 Balenciaga collection. Alongside boxy minimalist cuts were dramatically ruffled hems (an obvious homage to Cristobal Balenciaga), alongside neutrals were bold hues, alongside monochrome looks were vibrant prints — all of which made for a refreshing collection that offered something aside from the futurism we've come to associate with Ghesquière.

Boxy jackets, long vests, jagged hems on dresses, and ruffle bustier skirts worn with crop tops made for particularly delightful looks that were at once dramatic while being wholly wearable, especially given their clean lines and spot on tailoring.
