Much of the collection may have been a bit stark and heavy for spring, but it's hard to argue with the to-die-for appeal of most of Haider Ackermann's black, gray, brown, and white Spring 2013 garments.
Ackermann has a special talent for making clothing look casual despite intricate tailoring, which this season had a distinctly Japanese inspiration. Obi-like belts, origami pleats, polka dot print, and sheer fabric made for romantic looks that were alluring without ever revealing too much skin. Silhouettes came in both fitted and slouchy iterations. Fittingly, both Tilda Swinton and Japanese painter Setsuko Klossowska de Rola, dressed in a kimono, attended the show.
