Discover Kristian Aadnevik: One of This Season’s Most Promising Designers

Have you ever heard of the fashion designer Kristian Aadnevik? If not, you’re definitely missing out! The Norwegian-born designer has received extensive press coverage subsequent to showcasing his collection during London Fashion Week and is quickly becoming a designer to watch.

Design Background

As a Royal College of Art graduate, this skilled designer approaches his collections as if he were a screenwriter, and although he always aims to dress the protagonist, each season he has to develop a new plot and change the story. His pieces encapsulate history and experiences, thus rendering his collections extremely memorable and something that resonates with customers. Aadnevik counts Harrods International and Charles Jourdan as his previous employers, and since he’s created his own label, leading fashion influencers such as style.com are already referring to him as one of this season’s most promising design talents.

His S/S 13 Collection

Fascinatingly, his S/S 2013 collection was inspired by the life of a moth, and yes, it is crazy to think that such an inspirational collection could be formulated around such a simple creature. As is the life of the mere moth, the collection aims to showcase its fragility yet constant courage to break away from the darkness and venture towards the light. In order to show the trajectory of the moth's life cycle, exotic skins and studded leather details were utilised to represent the moth’s cocoon, which developed into chiffon dresses with crystalised embellishments in a range of nude, white, grey, and khaki tones.
