Saint Laurent Spring 2013 Runway Review

Hedi Slimane made his highly anticipated debut at Yves Saint Laurent this season with a collection that felt distinctly YSL (now going under the name Saint Laurent) but with Slimane's rocker aesthetic artfully woven in.

It appears as though Slimane was heavily influenced by the brand's 70s archives, which made for some fantastic ultra fitted leather pants, skinny suits, tuxedo jackets, chiffon blouses, neck bows, languid maxi dresses, oversized hats, and fringe-accented separates. Unfortunately, the designer didn't experiment too much this season with cuts and proportions, but given that it's his first outing one can't judge him too harshly for not pushing the envelope and there's little doubt that these wearable looks will sell.
