BCBGMAXAZRIA Fall 2013 Runway Review

BCBGMAXAZRIA always kicks off the shows at Lincoln Center with celebrity buzz (this year, Jessica Hart, Kate Nash and Sami Gayle were among those sitting front row) and endless flashes of paparazzi, and this season didn't disappoint.

Fall 2013 was inspired by "the beautiful history inlaid within the architecture of Istanbul and the eclectic style of the gypsies of southern Europe; contrasted by the artwork of contemporary artist Phil Frost," which Max and Lubov Azria translated into a layered, gypsy style of dress complete with high-impact prints, patterned fur, laser cut leather and long, loose silhouettes.

There was a luxe, but sporty feel to the collection given the juxtaposition of loose silhouettes and hoods with fur and intricate leather work. And while there was plenty to love in the shifts, tunics, oversized pants, boyfriend jackets and the shoes (thigh-high leather boots and ankle-cuff stilettos), the one thing the crowd could not stop buzzing about were the cozy beanies the models wore to accessories the blue, burgundy, black, green and soft neutral collection.
