La Perla Fall 2013 Runway Review

Inspired by late 1930s design, art and bullfighting traditions in Spain, the collection featured lace, tulle and silk creations done in an intense Goya-inspired color palette and it marked the relaunch of Black Label, La Perla’s high luxury label initially established in 2003. Macramé bows, transparent panels, criss-crossed lace, satin inserts and bustier tops were among the luxe intimate detailings.

To complement the lingerie, Hourglass makeup artist Moani Lee used the Spanish inspiration as a jumping point to create “a refined take on sexy.” She added that she “wanted to capture the sensuality and the strength of the woman wearing this decadent lingerie,” and therefore focused on elegant brows, radiant skin and dramatic lips. There were no harsh lines — even the lip liner was light and among the new products used were the brand’s recently launched Ambient Lighting Powders and a new Lip Oil launching in May (it has a 24 karate tip applicator!).
