Colorblocking was alive and well at 3.1 Phillip Lim and even those who claim to be over the trend will likely find it hard to resist the designer's Fall 2013 wares. A parade of sinuous leather separates, embellished denim, long motorcycle vests, chunky knits, mixed textures and roomy boyfriend-inspired cuts, often shown layered, gave the impeccably styled collection a polished-meets-grungy feel.
Accessories, an increasingly important part of Lim's business, were similarly impressive; the season's silhouette was a structured cross-body bag fashioned in a variety of pattern and color iterations, perfectly sized to work both day and night. While it's easy to imagine the handbags flying off the shelves, some of the designer's shoes — namely open toe over-the-knee boots — will be a bit tricky to pull off. All bets are on the closed toe over-the-knee, slightly slouchy leather boots being one of the season's must-haves.
