Saint Laurent Fall 2013 Runway Review

Saint Laurent took a turn for Nirvana — plaid and all — this season, something which would surely ruffle Yves Saint Laurent's feathers were he still alive. Sporting an unkempt look, models walked the runway in oversized plaids, floral baby doll minis, Peter Pan collar dresses, tartan shirts, fishnet tights, grungy leather miniskirts and dresses, biker jackets, flat black boots and oversized cardigans, often worn over mini dresses (think walk of shame...). It will be interesting to see how retailers and customers react to this sharp departure from classic YSL.

That said, there were a number of the brand signatures including a ruffle dress, a leopard coat and a variety of embellished looks that Saint Laurent's traditional demographic may gravitate towards when they see the pieces taken out of the Coachella-esque context.
