Scarlett Johansson for Dolce Gabanna isn’t the only advertising campaign channeling Marilyn Monroe this season. Roberto Cavalli has turned ethereal Canadian beauty, Daria Werbowy into a platinum blonde Monroe for his Spring 2009 advertising campaign.
Sporting platinum blonde curly locks, Werbowy wears a white halter-neck maxi dress looking very Monroe-like in one photo, while in another she’s doing the trademark Monroe-head tilt but looking very Cavalli Barbie kitsch in a ruffled high-waisted knit mini skirt and matching cropped top.
Perhaps Cavalli and photographers Inez & Vinoodh didn’t mean to channel the sex kitten, after all how do you explain the other two shots that look nothing like the Marilyn image?
Either way the look isn’t very Cavalli, who is more known for his sexy animal prints with a little more raw sexual appeal.
