WANG TO RELEASE JEWELRY COLLECTION

Fashion wunderkind and the latest CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund recipient Alexander Wang has teamed up with Brooklyn-based jewelry designer Paris Kain of Abraxas Rex for a new four style jewelry collection for fall. The duos collection of silver cuffs and earrings will launch February 14th.

As to what we can expect Wang says that the earrings will not be worn pierced, but they will not be worn clipped on either, saying “we’re working with ways of wearing earrings that aren’t typical. How they work on your body, how they hang. We want to push the meaning of embellishment and how people interpret jewelry. I wanted something very industrial.” The Abraxas Rex for Alexander Wang pieces are priced from $350 to $975 wholesale.

As for Wang’s highly anticipated Fall 2009 collection he says that while the jewelry is sleek and streamlines, his looks will be more constructed and less of the slouchy look we’ve come to expect from him. The designer also notes in WWD that there will be a somewhat animalistic nature to the collection and that his inspiration started with the idea of Tina Turner in ‘Mad Max.’
