BRIAN REYES F/W 09

Article excerpted from refinery29.com

Brian Reyes’ exquisite Fall/Winter collection was inspired by a girl who “looks pulled together and glamorous, but really isn’t,” explained the designer. He said he looked toward the women in Fellini films, as well as oxidized metals and marble (because it is both “strong but fragile”) for his prints.

Full of silks and tiered draping details, and complimented by Roxanne Assoulin jewelry and a collaboration with Manolo Blahnik that unfortunately delivered shoes that were all too large. After not one, but several models had to remove their heels, there seemed to be a collective “fuck it” and the whole cast walked out barefoot in the final round. But the bare footsies with teased French rolls and elegant clothes seemed to even more so echo Reyes’ muse, as he admitted the mishap was ironically, “the perfect ending to the show.”

Front row we spotted Olivia Palmero, Rachel Bilson, and a row of Team Elle showing off a their diverse personalities in their own shoes—Joann Pailey in lady-like Roger Vivier pumps, Kate Lanphear in rock-n-roll, back-zipped Sergio Rossi boots, Anne Slowey in pointy Balenciaga stilettos, and Roberta Meyers in a classic Louboutin. So, for those with a soft spot for shoes, it wasn’t an entire tragedy for the show.
