MATTHEW WILLIAMSON ADS

This spring, Matthew Williamson will pair what he considers to be iconic styles from some of his past collections with radiant color from his current runway looks. His limited edition womenswear collection is full of vibrant and eclectic prints.  For those hoping for a preview, some of the shots from the advertising campaign were recently leaked.

The Polish-born Canadian-Ukrainian model Daria Werbowy is featured in some sexy brightly-colored wears in the ad campaign which was shot in in Tulum, Mexico. In Europe, there will be print ads as well as television spots.

In less than two weeks – on April 23 – approximately 200 H&M store locations worldwide will offer the first part of the collection for spring. Beginning May 14, a summer collection for men and women will be available in all 1,700 H&M store locations worldwide. This will be the first time an H&M designer collaboration collection is available in all stores, and will Mark Williamson’s menswear debut.

The Matthew Williamson for H&M collection has the same vibrant style that has made the London designer a fashion celebrity.  Key pieces from the collection include a bias-cut, butterfly printed dress with grosgrain straps paired with a cashmere sweater that includes peacock embroidery over one shoulder.  This look is reminiscent of one of Williamson’s favorites designs that dates back to his first show in 1997.

Also included in the collection are pieces inspired by Williamson’s most recent runway collection such as an electric blue tuxedo with bold color-blocking.  “The color blocking provides innovative style to the look whether worn over jeans, biker or cigarette pants,” says Williamson.

Using a jacquard print exclusive to the H&M collection, Williamson includes a metallic jacket and bubble skirt, while the peacock motif is once again seen in a versatile jersey dress.  Show pieces include an ultra-short, long-sleeved sequin dress with printed bursts of color and an evening dress recreated from one of Williamson’s most celebrated pieces: a beaded ruffle gown in a vivid tiger butterfly print.
