POSITIVE OUTLOOK FOR PETER SOM

Things have been up in the air for American designer Peter Som since the announcement that he was leaving Bill Blass in October. Som was the women’s wear creative director at the legendary house. To add insult to injury, he did not stage a runway show last season, but rather held a showing in his showroom. Luckily, the designer’s future fashion prospects are looking up!

It is being reported that Som has just inked a licensing deal for his namesake line. The deal was signed with Milan-based clothing manufacturer Margon and New York showroom powerhouse ADC. Margon will manufacture the line while ADC showroom will be responsible for global distribution – both the manufacturer and the distributor will work in conjunction with Som. In addition, Som has hired legendary public relations agency KCD to manage the PR of his brand.

While the American designer won’t be showing a resort collection, he will do two shows in September. The chief executive officer of Peter Som Inc, Elana Posner, noted that in what has been a very challenging year, she and Peter Som Inc are very pleased to have good news to report.  They are looking forward to this new period with a renewed positive outlook, adding –“we are grateful for the support and work we have done with our local and overseas factories that we have worked with for the last 10 years. We look forward to working with them on other projects in the future.”
