RODARTE + COLETTE COLLABORATE

The Rodarte sisters are on a roll. After the recent announcement that the design duo, made up of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, will be teaming-up with Target for a Go International limited edition line that will consist of 55 holiday dresses and separates (sold in stores nationwide as well as on Target.com through February 6th), comes news that the two designers will be collaborating with Paris’ most influential boutique, Colette.

During Paris Fashion Week, this coming October, Rodarte will be creating a gallery and retail space on the second floor of the boutique that will last for one month.  This will showcase pieces from the Fall/Winter 2009 Rodarte collection, along with other items that were specially chosen by Rodarte – CDs, DVDs, artwork by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Mari Estman, Elliott Hundley, Alexandra Grant, and Karen Kilimnik, books with covers hand-painted by Rebekah Miles, Rodarte knitted animals, limited edition jewelery created by the Rodarte sisters’ mother, glitter taxidermy by Annakim Violette, and the marbled ballet flats Rodarte designed in conjunction with Repetto – will be up for sale (the marbled flats will be exclusive to Colette).

Colette buyer Sarah Lerfel remarked, in light of the collaboration, that Rodarte has always been inspiring and that she’s personally “fascinated by their world.” Colette was indeed one of the first to stock the line, which was established less than 5 years ago in Pasadena, CA.
