TALENT RUNS IN THE FALCHI FAMILY

I first met Carlos Falchi a few months ago when the designer was celebrating 30 years of his work at Bergdorf Goodman with a retrospective handbag exhibition. For someone who has been in the business for so long, I was delighted to see that the Brazilian designer was wonderfully friendly and seemed to be sincerely excited and honored to be celebrating this milestone at Bergdorf. After the anniversary celebration, I saw the designer once again at one of Target’s showrooms when he was unveiling his Carlos Falchi for Target collection (which, by the way, hits Target stores and Target.com November 1st through December 27th).

Now, never in a million years would I think Falchi would remember me from weeks before at Bergdorf, but he did.

He had such a passion for his work that you’d be hard pressed not to get excited yourself.

It comes as little surprise (given Falchi’s contagious energy) that his daughter, Kate Falchi, has decided to join the brand as an associate designer. The duo have just completed work on a new six piece Graffiti Collection (priced between $395 and $1,195) which hits Bergdorf Goodman during Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th.

The collection has three prints – a traditional graffiti print in green and red, a punk-inspired bleeding hearts pattern, and a rose print. In the same vein as the 30th anniversaty commemorative collection, each graffiti bag has been done by the Falchis and is one of a kind.

It’s just one more thing to get excited about on September 10th!
