MOSCHINO LOVE

I love Moschino. I grew up taking the M2 bus up Madison Avenue every day for 13 years to school and my bus stop was smack in front of what is now La Perla, but at the time it was Moschino’s New York City flagship. They would change up their window displays every month, and I remember even at a young age being completely mesmerized by what they would come up with. Unfortunately, price points kept me from indulging too much – though I have my fair share of Moschino ensembles that run the gamut from wearable to “art”.   However, Moschino has finally announced that they will be adding some affordable accessories to their mix.

The Italian house has, of course, their main line — Moschino – as well as their diffusion line Moschino Cheap and Chic (which like Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G is not really cheap at all), and up until 2008 they had Moschino Jeans. The latter has now been revamped and renamed Moschino Love. They will be selling ready to wear under the same name and both will be launching for Spring 2010.

The price points fall between $165 and $445 — one of the images released features a heart-accented clutch, very reminiscent of the four-figure Marc Jacobs bags from last season.  But the Moschino Love pieces actually seem way more on par in price, style, and target demographic with Marc by Marc Jacobs. The accessories line will include totes, shoulder bags, wallets, and clutches, in nappa and patent leather, and in calf and canvas.
