The Gucci family is riddled with controversy – and I’m not even talking about anything involving Tom Ford.
Murder, deceit, reputation, and money all come into play in the Italian family’s rich history which has been chronicled in a number of books these past years (and a Harvard Business School case I once studied in college). Attention to the drama behind one of today’s most recognizable luxury labels resurfaced recently when word hit that Ridley Scott is working on a film slated to begin filming next year about the downfall of the family dynasty. Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to play Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife who is currently serving a 26-year prison sentence for plotting his 1995 murder. The Gucci family is not happy about the film that will likely bring their messy drama to a very wide audience who would otherwise be blissfully naive.
