New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 Hits and Misses: Part 1 (Forum Buzz)

THE MISSES:

Rag & Bone

“Is this the arts and crafts version of Proenza Schouler? Another New York brand with sloppy tailoring propped up by fashion editors.” [disco54]

“I usually love Rag & Bone (their resort collection was great) but this collection falls flat for me.” [Moofins]

“I thought this was a resort collection. Another snoozefest, in any case. I expected better.” [tangerine]

Jason Wu

“He can do better. It felt like a collection for girls who loved last season’s [Alexander] Wang but are not brave enough to wear something that modern.” [TheItGirl]

“I’m just confused by the fit of a lot of these garments. If it looks so unflattering on the models, what hope do the rest of us have?” [fee de foret]

“Casting was great, collection was bad. It was confused and mostly hideous. It had safari vibes and mermaid dresses and 80s elements and was all mashed up into something really unattractive. It wasn’t sexy either, which is the one thing I’m usually on board with when it comes to Wu. I didn’t like this at all.” [Psylocke]

Prabal Gurung

“What a miss. This seriously looks like a pile of Dior rejects and Prada remakes done in cheap satin.” [lelaid]

“I don’t think it’s awful, he can do great work, but he’s too literal! It’s like a reference parade of other designers’ work!” [miguelalmeida]

“Prabal is actually a very talented designer, capable of creating beautiful work that is his own, but he can’t seem to get off the copycat train and wake up! This collection is so bad. Go back to what you used to do, Prabal. Please.” [valliaddict]
