New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 Hits and Misses: Part 2 (Forum Buzz)

THE MISSES:

Victoria Beckham

“I can’t imagine many women want to wear that girlish frilly silhouette that is happening in half of the looks. I like when she does a more sleek and womanly vibe that echoes her personal style.” [HeatherAnne]

“Boring, too girly, no sizzle, not special enough to spend my money on, a pity, I expected more.” [Nymphaea]

“A snoozefest.” [FashionFanatico]

Derek Lam

“To me he is just grasping at straws at this point. It’s like he eyeballed popular recent collections from the likes of: Kane, Proenza, Marant, Celine and did a knockoff collection from the best elements of each of them. In the end, the collection lacks any cohesion and is totally weird. The gowns at the end are embarrassingly bad.” [HeatherAnne]

“He’s gone downhill the last couple of seasons. The second half of this collection, after the gingham, is better, but nothing to write home about.” [Not Plain Jane]

“I’ve lost all hope in Derek Lam, this was a waste of a show.” [GERGIN]

Rodarte

“Rodarte has taken a HUGE turn… This collection is a mash-up of Daisy Duke, exotic dancers and urban wear! All together looks so weird and so distasteful… I’m nostalgic for what this brand used to be!” [miguelalmeida]

“Is this Rodarte or Rihanna for River Island’s reject designs?” [rougevalentino]

“Honestly, I just think it shows the lack of depth and variety they have as designers. To me they exemplify one-trick-pony.” [Scott]
