London Fashion Week Kicks Off with Bora Aksu Spring 2014

We kicked off our Fashion Week bright and early with Designer Bora Aksu’s opening show, which also coincides with the label’s 10th anniversary. For those of you who haven’t heard of the label, Aksu is a Central Saint Martin’s graduate, originally from Turkey but has been based in London for 15 years. The designer cites his design signatures as romantic with a dark twist, which was clear in his runway collection this morning.

Here’s a sneak peek from inside this morning’s show. His Spring 2014 collection was inspired by his childhood memories, as he reminisces about his homeland’s rich, colourful and diverse culture. These influences were even evident on his invite, which was covered in handwoven Turkish textiles. Layering was key to the collection, as laces and chiffons added a stark contrast against sheer panels. The color palette was summery, as bright shots of yellow, bold blues and hot pinks brightened the mood against the outdoor’s miserable weather.
