Max Mara Spring 2014: Minimalist Classics

This season’s Max Mara lineup was a sophisiticated collection of mostly neutral-toned pieces with a half dozen or so deeply saturated pops of color livening things up in the middle. Silhouettes were on the roomy side and nearly every look was monochromatic and embellishment-free, making for a slew of seasonless looks.

Coats are always a strong suit for the brand and for Spring 2014 they were crafted button-less, casual and wide. Sheer fabrics, high shine separates and the series of jewel-toned looks added a more fashion-forward bend to some of the clothes. But given the clean lines and lack of frills, even the more daring looks, like a purple skirt with suspenders paired with a sheer top, held conceivable wearable appeal.
