Comme des Garcons Spring 2014: Music and Fashion

Music and fashion have long had a love affair and nowhere was it more evident than at this season’s Comme des Garcons show where Rei Kawakubo changed up the music for each look she presented.

In keeping with the change in tunes, there wasn’t a clear theme running throughout the artful lineup, but there was a consistently dark mood even in the few instances where the designer opted to use colors other than black. Cage-like silhouettes, ballooning shapes, chains, hoop skirts and harness-like detailing all contributed to the somber feel of the stunningly crafted designs.

Highly sculptural from start to finish, this is a collection made for a museum not a retail floor.
