Russian-American Princess Anna Anisimova Dishes on Her Sometimes-Glamorous Life

Last year, New York Magazine deemed her the “Russian-American Paris Hilton,” heiress to a real estate fortune so big you and I couldn’t possibly wrap our heads around these numbers. And just like Paris, Anna Anisimova isn’t going to let that notoriety go unexploited. In 2014, she has three films coming out including a legal thriller starring Kate Beckinsdale and There’s Always Woodstock, in which she stars and co-produced. Safe to say, if this is the first time you’re hearing Anna’s name, it probably won’t be the last.

Julie Bensman: You’ve been called New York’s first Russian-American princess. How do you feel about that title?

Anna Anisimova: I don’t really think about titles much, but it’s always good to be the first. I definitely have a great life, but I’m not sure how much of it is “princess-like”. Those who don’t know me might be disappointed to hear that I do my own laundry, clean my house and make my bed every morning. But every princess fairy tale has a happy ending, so I guess I don’t mind.

JB: You run with a pretty fashionable group of friends. Which one has the best personal style?

AA: You either have personal style or you don’t — and the person who inspires me most is my sister. She’s a mom of two little ones, but doesn’t believe in spending her days in workout clothes. She actually wears heels to baby classes! She recently started styling and is constantly helping me put outfits together.

JB: How would you describe your own sense of style?

AA: Definitely casual, a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl. If the occasion calls for it, however, I’ll go all out: outfit, hair and makeup. I love how I can change into a whole different person in an instant.

JB: Who are some of your favorite designers?

AA: I want everything by Isabel Marant. Hedi Slimane is doing a fantastic job for Saint Laurent — his blazers are literally perfect. J.Crew makes some of my favorite sweaters.

JB: In your travels, which city has the most stylish denizens?

AA: Paris. Parisians, even when they are at their most casual, have something so effortless and chic about them.

JB: There are rumors you’re starting your own line. True or false?

AA: False. Who knows though? Maybe in the future I’ll do a line with my sister.

JB: Which items in your closet are your most prized possessions?

AA: My wedding dress and my Uggs.

JB: Which items will you never leave the house without?

AA: Sunscreen, earrings and sunglasses.

JB: What’s the last thing you Googled?

AA: How long it takes to roast a 5 lb. chicken.
