BCBGMaxAzria Says Fur, Leather and Comfort Are In for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: Always a buzzing show, the usual front row of editors and bloggers including Joanna Coles, Cindi Leive, Joe Zee, Kyle Anderson, Eva Chen, Man Repeller, BryanBoy and June Ambrose were all in attendance along with the requiste random notables like Giada De Laurentiis and Phoebe Tonkin.

The Inspiration: As Lubov Azria told us, this season she was inspired by “unbalanced elegance.”

The Look: Layered, slightly oversized, but with sexy cut-outs and slits – this wasn’t a collection about little tight dresses, but rather one for comfort AND style (i.e. perfect for Polar Vortex inspiration). Fur was all over the runway adding texture and coziness to everything from outerwear and sweaters, to muffs and collars. Leather was also featured prominently as were colorblocked patterns and colors. As for the palette, it was a mix of black, white, grey, navy, camel, pastels and rusty shades. Lastly, it’s worth singling out the brand’s reinvented poncho which came complete with ski-inspired stripes and zippers.

The Accessories: Versatile knee-high black boots with a heel that looked about 3.5 inches high and structured handbags.

The Beauty: Slick hair with side-swept bangs. Skin was kept clean and lips neutral – the focal point this season was the eye.

The Takeaway: BCBG celebrated its 25th anniversary with this season’s show and they hit it out of the park with a timely collection that managed to balance sexiness with femininity and comfort seamlessly.
