Preen Takes Us to the Dark Side for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Inspiration: Surprising colors and, if you can believe it, Star Wars.

The Look: For perhaps an unprecedented second time in the same fashion month, we have another designer drawing sartorial inspiration from the hit film series Star Wars — villain Darth Vader, in particular. While at Rodarte in New York, Star Wars characters were transferred onto gala-ready frocks, here Vader was slapped onto day dresses as well as graphic tees, and, awesomely, on a crisp white button-down. It wasn’t all space sagas for Preen as the brand rounded out the collection with great patterned separates filled with excuses to give hot orange and green a second look.

The Accessories: A relatively sparse round of accessories, mostly just coordinating shoes (bright orange strappy heels and up-to-there black leather boots).

The Beauty: An elegant half-do with mostly naked faces.

The Casting: Malaika Firth was among the catwalk strutters.

The Takeaway: Star Wars is an American classic, but we’re going with the Brits in this battle of themed clothing.
