Watch: Fashion Blogger and Shoe Designer Chiara Ferragni (from the Blonde Salad) Talks Casual Dressing and Magical Fashion Moments

“In New York, I’m at my best when I’m super casual,” Chiara Ferragni told theFashionSpot at the outset of fashion week, in an interview filmed at the Next Artists Beauty Suite, hosted at Dune Studios.

Of course, Ferragni’s approach to casual dressing (that Thursday, she was wearing a furry pink sweater and shimmery floral print capri pants from MSGM, paired with a Celine bag and golden slip-ons from her just-launched collaboration with Steve Madden) is a little more sophisticated than my own (I dress down with oversized man shorts and decades-old tees), but then again, the blogger’s playful, feminine personal style is the foundation of her career. “I think people can really see themselves in my style,” she said, shrugging.

Within two years of launching her website, The Blonde Salad, the Italian law student had reached 110,000 pageviews daily and was named “Newcomer Blogger of the Year” by Bloglovin’. That same year, Ferragni walked the runway for Alberta Ferretti and was invited to cover the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

“[That was] one of the craziest moments, especially since it was only two years after I started blogging,” she told us. “And I went [to Cannes] and I thought nobody would know who I was. I was wearing this Alberta Ferretti dress and there were a lot of photographers and some of them started calling my name so then everybody started calling my name. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is such a moment for me!’ I didn’t know where to look because everyone was calling for me. It was probably the most magical moment for me so far, but there have been so many others. I get so emotional, I think ‘Oh my god, Is this really happening?'”
