DESIGNER SHUFFLING FOR FALL 2010

It may be less than a year that former Bill Blass design director Prabal Gurung launched his eponymous line, but given that he’s already been picked up by the likes of Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Ikram, it’s little surprise that he’ll be hitting the Bryant Park tents come February.  On the 13th, he’ll showcase his Fall/Winter 2010 collection at 4pm in the Salon. The designer told Fashion Week Daily that he felt that for his third season it was the “right time to broaden the scope of [his] vision for the collection, which requires movement down a runway.”

Also moving forward are Swaim Hutson and his wife Christina – the duo behind the now defunct Obedient Sons & Daughters – who will once again join forces as the designers behind Generra’s men and women’s line. Swaim Hutson took over at Generra, starting with the brand’s Spring 2010 men’s collection in September (around the same time the first Generra NYC boutique opened in the MPD).  As for what we can expect from the design duo, a “late 1970’s look, with the energy of Fiorucci,” for fall.

Lastly, legendary 60’s London label Biba – which had a small revival recently at Topshop – is slated for another revamp. British department store House of Fraser acquired the rights to the brand, and they plan to re-launch the iconic line under the name Biba Collection for House of Fraser for Fall 2010.
