Pleats Galore for Krizia’s Fall 2014 Collection (Runway Review)

The Inspiration: Krizia’s signature panther and endless pleats.

The Look: This season’s Krizia collection was all about pleats, from wide-leg pants to cinched at the waist jackets – everything was pleated. Luckily, it turns out pleats on pleats work, and are a lot easier to pull off than the prints on prints we saw a few seasons ago. A pleated bomber jacket and asymmetrical side slit dress were particularly eye-catching as was a black pleated skirt paired with a brown pleated top. While most of the pleats veered on the relaxed side, there were stiffly tailored pleated fabrics as well, adding a sculptural element to the collection. Also in the lineup was the brand’s signature panther, which made its way onto a, you guessed it, pleated dress along with non-pleated sweaters, trousers and a coat. Sharp suits and casual monochrome dresses were also in the mix, but they didn’t hold as much appeal as their pleated counterparts. For evening, there was plenty of high-shine black beading.

The Accessories: Classic black boots, booties and pumps.

The Beauty: Hair was pulled out of the face and models were given a bold brown eye.

The Takeaway: Let’s hope Krizia succeeds in making pleats on pleats a trend next season.
