Blugirl Heads Inside the Manor for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: A runway show with the look and feel of a fancy at-home, trying-on fashion show. Instead of the usual sleek runway surroundings, Blugirl went with an upscale manor vibe. Think pale pink carpeted runway, side table and gilded mirror.

The Inspiration: The well-dressed daughter of the elegant lady of the house.

The Look: A simplistic collection for sure. On display were floaty frocks ranging in hue from whisper white to pretty peach to bold black along with strong separates. Embellishments were smartly done and felt almost minimal. While there was plenty of fine embroidery, brocade-like fabrics and beading, it was all done with care. A distinct retro floral theme emerged on sweet slip dresses and sleek, voluminous jumpsuits as well as on midi button-up dresses complete with Peter Pan collars. All in all, this felt like a light collection for fall, but it wasn’t without its heavyweights. One of the strongest pieces was a very simple three-quarter sleeve black dress decorated with gold bands along all hemlines.

The Accessories: Chunky platforms paired with sheer white tights. A ribbon choker made to look like a rose.

The Beauty: Straight hair parted down the center, thick lower lashes and black-lined upper lids.

The Takeaway: A sweet, breezy collection for fall, but can we wear all this stuff now instead?
