Highlights from Fashion Week Australia, Day 1

Bec & Bridge

Bec & Bridge’s ‘Due North’ collection for Spring Summer 14/15 is bohemian, but not obviously so. Instead of the exotic glitz that this particular trend has conjured up recently, it is raw, faded and worn-in fabrications that gave the designs their nomadic spirit this time around. Chambray, linen and hand-dyed silks and boucle tweed are accented by frayed hems and hook-and-eye fastenings as details. The less figure-hugging of Bec & Bridge’s silhouettes nodded towards saris, sarongs and kimonos. With this grassroots artisan vibe and a renewed sense of adventure we look towards day two of Fashion Week Australia.
