Highlights from Fashion Week Australia, Day 3

Jayson Brunsdon

After hitting the 10 year mark, it seems Jayson Brunsdon wanted to shake things up at MBFWA. In his own words, the designer plays with ideas of what is “tacky” rather than his typical “ladylike” aesthetic for the season ahead. Of course, Brunsdon can’t help but turn out a very refined version of tacky (who knew such a thing was possible?!). The “Rio” collection pays homage to his favourite holiday spot to return to each summer. His Brazilian beauties wear glistening brocade and jacquard fabrics mimicking palm leaves or snakeskin in bronze, azure and gold. There are also frilled ‘ra-ra’ hemlines and shiny paillettes to keep things flirty and a tutti-frutti print which would make Carmen Miranda envious.
