Haute Couture Fall 2014 Hits & Misses (Forum Buzz)

As far as forum members are concerned, this haute couture season hasn’t been all that exciting. But there were a few collections that rose to the top of the heap. And, of course, others that sunk to the bottom. Here’s what forum members had to say about their highs and lows.

Christian Dior Haute Couture

“Absolutely sublime collection. I love everything! Raf [Simons] has really found his footing at Dior and it becomes more evident season after season. What I find nice about this collection is that it seems more relaxed than his previous efforts; an approach which he started with the last couture show. I really like the utilitarian yet pretty approach to some of the pieces especially those jumpsuits. A very modern, beautiful and realistic couture collection.” [ogepma]

“On a whole, I love this collection. It is beautiful. It is both modern and timeless. And most importantly, if I had the money, I would buy as much of this as I could get my hands on… I covet this collection as a 20-something, but I also know several ladies who have the finances to afford couture (I would rather not namedrop), and I could envision them in many of these pieces as well.” [thisismyname]

“Easily one of my favorite collections Raf has done for Dior. I liked the vast majority of the looks. The dresses were especially incredible!” [Nepenthes]

Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture

“To be honest, I wish all Russian oligarch vanity projects looked this good.” [masquerade]

“Ulyana has a lot more to learn in terms of design and direction as she is still at the beginning of her journey – but as someone before me noted, it is once again a very good attempt at couture for a Russian socialite.” [dodencebt]

“I literally thought this was Dior… this is how Dior should be. Regardless, this is beautiful.” [pen6693]
