One Minute With … Costello Tagliapietra

If spring is starting to look a bit like fall, do not be alarmed. It’s just a play on colors according to Costello Tagliapietra. The designers went for a darker collection full of autumnal hues. Navy was the big player, with olive and pumpkin also making appearances. All of which made us quite happy. Pastels are lovely, but there’s something to be said for richer shades all year round.

We spoke with Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra backstage after their show. Mostly about their new bulldog rescue, Eugene. (He’s quite dreamy.)

theFashionSpot: How’s the puppy?

Jeffrey Costello: He’s good. He’s still not ready for people.

tFS: Neither am I but you let me come out.

Robert Tagliapietra: He’s very cute but he’s inappropriate. He lunges and looks like he’s attacking.

tFS: But he’s so cute though! Your collection—it was amazing! It was very fall-like, which of course, I love. I loved the colors. What was the inspiration?

RT: Just the colors. We were looking at colors and the moodiness of them and we started with a love affair with navy and then we wanted to slowly expand that to other colors.

tFS: It felt very late summer, early fall, on a beach.

RT: Wonderful. It was really about color and make that color BE the storyline.

tFS: I’m trying to convince a couple brands to do a doggy line and I feel like I can get you guys on board.

RT: We do doggy clothes for our dog!

tFS: DONE.
