One Minute With … Designer Marissa Webb

Moody was definitely the theme of the day for the collections at NYFW. Marissa Webb’s line showcased a subtle nod to the 90s, with elegant layering, beautiful ranges in colors and draping that Webb is getting known for. If designing for a major retail brand and her own collection is at all stressful, you wouldn’t know it from either the clothes that walked or Webb herself. Cool as a cucumber.

We spoke with her backstage about her collection, the 90s and more.

theFashionSpot: Congrats on the collection and an amazing year you’re having.

Marissa Webb: Thank you!

tFS: I love the darker colors in this collection.

MW: I always start with the neutrals, like an ivory or a black and white will always be involved.

tFS: And really beautiful layering.

MW: Well I’m a big fan of layering. Obsessive layerer of everything.

tFS: It had a 90s feel, in an elevated way.

MW: Well Ill take that as a compliment because I fucking love the 90s!

tFS: How challenging is it for you to do so many different collections now?

MW: It’s challenging, it’s inspiring. Who can say they have two lines, you know? I have one and then I have another and I love that energy. I’m not one of those people who can sit around and do nothing. It drives me insane.

tFS: But you are going to go on vacation at least after all this?

MW: I feel like I’m on vacation!
