Kelly Cutrone: My Favorite Moments from Fashion Week

Motherhood Trumps All

I went to bed at 4:00 a.m., I was working with my staff all night. I woke up at literally 6:30 a.m. and took my daughter to school. And when we got there she goes to me, “Do not walk in with me. I’m in seventh grade now. I need to walk in by myself.” I sat like a weirdo in the corner and watched her go in.

The Amazing Team

Watching the self-esteem that my team has. They’re growing. They’re super bad news bears. They look like they’re at the Watanabe fashion show. That’s pretty cool.

 Surviving NYFW with YouTube

Can I tell you my number one favorite video that kept me alive during Fashion Week? The literal translation of “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” Have you ever seen it? If one of my clients was losing their minds and said their lives were over, I’d run in with this video. “Before we talk about the collection, can we just watch this?”

And this being Kelly Cutrone, she has some words of wisdom for the literal gatekeepers of Lincoln Center: The security guards.

Who are you calling a crasher?; Image: Getty

It was 6:45 a.m. and I get stopped by a security guard from Staten Island who wears Dickies, thinking I’m a crasher trying to get in my own show. I mean seriously, imagine arriving at 6:45 a.m. at Lincoln Center and hearing, “Ma’am? I’m sorry you can’t come through.”

Here’s a little tip for you security people: If you don’t like the gays and you don’t like bitchy women and you don’t like fashion, maybe you shouldn’t work at Fashion Week, OK?
