Heavenly Structures at Ellery’s Paris Fashion Week Spring 2015 Show

Designer Kym Ellery is obviously making waves over in the city of love, with her label Ellery showcasing its third consecutive Paris Fashion Week show on Saturday, September 17. It’s a match made in heaven, really, with Ellery continually offering a mix of sophisticated and romantic pieces. Just like Paris, the label is all class and inspiration.

The Spring 15 showcase saw Ellery’s feminine whites in full swing, this time exploring with slouchy pants, structured high-neck jackets, halter tops with exaggerated peplums, and eccentric bubbly sculptures. Dark hues like navy blue and rich jade added a certain dreamlike appeal to the fresh collection, as well as the signature billowy sleeves which Ellery is so well known for.

An incorporation of Barbie-esque hot pink was unexpected, but we understand the move after Moschino‘s Spring 15 collection was received with such high acclaim. The girlie tone was the only real punchy pop of colour, with the designer otherwise sticking to muted tan, soft blush, and neutral-coloured tweeds.

Our favourite looks included the use of sheer fabrics with feather-like fringing or webbed lace underlays, as well as layered pieces which either added feminine fluidity or tailored structure to the garments. On the flipside, we were thoroughly confused by the wrap-front jackets which created the illusion of a missing arm.
