One Minute With … Designer Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott’s playful nature was on display yesterday at Milk where the designer staged a Fall 2015 show entitled “Dolly Pattern.” We caught up with the designer backstage to get the scoop on his documentary, due out later this year.

theFashionSpot: We’re all dying to know about your film.

Jeremy Scott: I don’t know how people always perceive me. Sometimes I fear that people may think I’m not friendly, or that I’m hard-edged because my work is very strong in photos. Hopefully after people watch this, they’ll realize how passionate I am about what I do.

tFS: Is there anything the camera can’t film?

JS: It’s not shot like a reality documentary, so it’ll mostly be about work. Of course, I don’t care for the cameras to be in my house or my bedroom.

tFS: Do you get final say on the edit?

JS: I have complete veto rights. But I want it to be genuine. I’ve tried not to hide anything purposefully.

tFS: Who’s going to make a cameo?

JS: There’s a lot of people. Katy [Perry], Miley [Cyrus], Rihanna…

tFS: Everyone is still talking about your Super Bowl outfits for Katy Perry. Looking back, what’s one of your favorite moments that you spent together?

JS: Probably celebrating her birthday. We were in Morocco. It was late, and we’d been dancing and singing. We were talking about what we wanted to do with the Super Bowl and laughing. I just adore her. I’m so proud of her.

tFS: You’re such a genuine person. How has fashion not jaded you?

JS: I just try to speak my truth and be the person I was raised to be. I appreciate the opportunities I’ve been given every day. I’m grateful I was even able to have this show today. I realize that there are people out there who would love to express themselves. I’ve been very fortunate.
