THE HITS:

Yohji Yamamoto

“Be still my heart. This is absolute perfection. Thank god for Yohji who never ever disappoints. One of my favorite collections from him in quite some time. The drapings! The darkness! The capes! The incredible elegance! So so amazing.” [mistress_f]

“Sometimes I think it’s crazy that he’s still doing this (fashion, whatever you want to call it) after all these years, but what’s crazier is that he’s still so good, never a questionable moment, and steady as one or two in his field (Margaret Howell and I don’t know who else), you can see all these values and love when looking at his work.” [MulletProof]

“The more I look at it the more I am charmed by details… and my limited understanding of Japanese dress allows me to see little hints… i.e.- the thong sandals reminiscent of the traditional geta sandals worn with kimono… here they are shown with ‘peds’- western socks traditionally worn with sneakers… with a nod to traditional Japanese dress as well as the supremely successful Y-3 collaboration…  Yohji reminds us that he is the innovator in this field.” [softgrey]

Celine

“Ah this is amazing! It’s like trying new food and it tastes so good but you’re trying to figure out what’s in it. She’s the only designer that interprets and plays with trends in a way that feels mentally stimulating and not just ‘buy me’, and I love how her girls always look impeccable even when she’s doing silly furry sandals.” [MulletProof]

“I think this is a really interesting collection. It’s challenging. There are some gorgeous pieces and some gorgeous looks here. It feels loaded with ideas, which I really like.” [dior_couture1245]

“Now THIS is a fashion show, so many new ideas to take in, all the while super lovely and cohesive. Ahhh, she’s the champ!” [HeatherAnne]

Haider Ackermann

“He really understood that he needed to shake things up and get out [of] his comfort zone. He’s been doing that in the last couple of seasons, and this time was an even bigger departure. Everything was toned down, stripped back, more urban and minimal, commercial (in the best possible way), but still incredibly cool and with that unique Haider spice.” [Marc10]

“Wow…kind of feels like a tribute to the icons of Antwerp, in a way. Heavy on the [Dries Van Noten] patterns and I absolutely love the pieces with the Jurgi Persoons-esque stitching. The plissé makes me think of A.F.Vandevorst. Needless to say, it’s certainly nice to see him finally moving away from the iridescent and metallic stuff of the last few years. This feels a bit fresher in the Ackermann world.” [Scott]

“I can’t say I’d been wanting to see him use animal prints and all those traditional patterns mixed together, but I have to say he makes it work somehow! I like that it’s a bit ladylike, a bit punk, a bit Victorian goth, and all very sexy and very Haider. Some very gorgeous looks in this collection and just really interesting as a whole. I love it.” [Psylocke]
