Interview: One Fell Swoop Talk MBFWA Opportunities, New Collection and Interstate Castings

One Fell Swoop

Perth-based Dan Romanin, one half of label One Fell Swoop, sat down with us ahead of his brand’s MBFWA show this week, telling us about the upcoming collection, what it was like putting together the show from another state, and what opportunities Fashion Week will bring.

For Dan, one of the most exciting prospects of MBFWA is the international stockist opportunities. “That is one of the main reasons that we wanted to do it,” he says. “To broaden our exposure, to the public and to the media, but mainly to the buyers,” he clarifies.

Having previously worked as a buyer at an international boutique, Dan knows how important it is to stand out from the crowd. “You get so many lookbooks thrown at you, that it just kind of gets lost,” he explains.

That’s probably why One Fell Swoop went with an installation-style show on Tuesday, choosing to stand out from the traditional runway that so many other designers opted for. Dan says this enabled himself and design partner, Nina Ergic, to “illustrate” what they do.

For the 10-year-old label’s sake, and, of course, Australian fashion in general, we hope the likes of Net-a-Porter and MATCHESFASHION.COM took notice of One Fell Swoops easy and elegant pieces. Now that the show’s taken place, all we can do it wait and see!
