Iconic Nordic label Marimekko showcased its Spring 2016 collection, the first under the helm of newly appointed creative director and former & Other Stories designer Anna Teurnell, at the Sydney Opera House yesterday, October 13.
Anna’s inspirations stemmed from strong visionary women like Armi Ratia, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi and Annika Rimala, wanting to “pay homage” to them in her design debut for the iconic brand.
It’s clear that Anna understands Marimekko’s design language and DNA, using strong, bold and lively garden-inspired and organic-archive prints on practical yet flattering sihlouettes which Anna believes “make you feel strong”.
Check out Anna’s first designs in the gallery above.
