Candace Cameron Bure told us she couldn't wait to walk in this year's show wearing Badgley Mischka. "It's a great cause to raise awareness. I love donating my time in any way that I can with great charities," she said, adding, "I want to stay strong to my family and be a good role [model] to my kids. And just have fun."
Madison Beer hit the runway for the first time in a "classy, chic" gown by Halston, one of her mother's favorite designers. "My grandfather had heart conditions over a long time and his husband actually passed away from heart complications," she shared backstage. "When I heard about this, I was really excited to get involved and spread awareness." The singer, who has new music debuting in 2016, admitted she had pre-show jitters walking her first runway. "Once I get out there and see the lights, though, it all goes away."
Skylar Diggins was honored to participate in the 2016 fashion show. "It's about a cause that represents something bigger than yourself," she explained. "What a great way to showcase all women from all professions, lifestyles, body types and backgrounds, to show every woman is beautiful." She walked the runway in Michael Costello, a designer she loves wearing on the red carpet. "I'm not a runway model," she said. "But tonight I am."
"It's all about women supporting women," explained 80s icon Debbie Gibson. "Anyone dealing with heart disease who sees other women cheering them on feels so uplifted." The music legend loved the fit "and drama" of her cut-out Jay Godfrey gown. "Especially the lace going up to...wherever," she joked.
"We've been partnering at the Today Show with Go Red for so many years," explained Tamron Hall wearing Marc Bouwer. "It has a special meaning for me. My mother's sister, one of the most important people in my life, passed away from heart disease. She's someone who always believed [in] me and watched the Today Show. I wanted to walk in her honor and in honor of all the families that lost a beautiful light."
Heart disease hits close to home for Ta'Rhonda Jones, who walked the runway wearing Conrad Booker. "My grandfather and mother both have congestive heart failure. And I was born with a heart murmur," she revealed backstage. To honor them, she wears a design shaved into her hair that resembles a heartbeat. "I had it before they called and it symbolizes I am living." The Empire star says to look out for "new additions to the family" on the upcoming season. And she loves working with Terrence and Taraji. "Everyone is so welcoming and humble and always has great advice to give."
