New York designers can’t get enough of Maartje Verhoef. Despite her young age, the Dutch stunner is already a veteran and has come a long way since she opened Prada’s spring show in 2012. Her calm presence adds the right balance to the runway, making her one of the most in-demand models season after season. Maartje made appearances at Calvin Klein Collection, Michael Kors, DKNY and more. Forum member lilgruner said she was "born to be a supermodel."
9. Irina Djuranovic (The Society): 16 Shows
With her delicate freckles and piercing brown eyes, Montenegro native Irina Djuranovic had a great start to her season walking 16 major shows in New York. The versatile brunette brought a touch of natural beauty to the runway when she appeared in shows like Prabal Gurung, Coach 1941, Narciso Rodriguez and Tommy Hilfiger. Forum member subway 123 said she is "so naturally beautiful" and "she will slay big time once again."
8. Dilone (DNA): 16 Shows
Having just landed her first cover for i-D, there’s no doubt Dilone is one of the hottest faces to cast at the moment. The 21-year-old walked for Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu and more, earning her a spot in the top 10. There is certainly more success in store for this unique beauty.
7. Greta Varlese (The Society): 16 Shows
Greta Varlese’s simple yet fresh presence makes the dark-haired stunner suitable for any look. The 17-year-old from Italy looked better than ever last week, walking for Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, Vera Wang and Narciso Rodriguez among others.
6. Adrienne Jüliger (DNA): 16 Shows
Once again an impressive show list for the German beauty. Adrienne Jüliger walked all the key shows in New York, including Tommy Hilfiger, Altuzarra, Calvin Klein Collection and Jason Wu. Her presence didn't go unnoticed by forum member Gazillion, who compared her to French actress Léa Seydoux, saying, "This girl is definitely one to watch."
5. Sora Choi (Wilhelmina): 17 Shows
Sora Choi was sorely missed by forum members last season. Making up for it last week, the Korean beauty walked a remarkable 17 shows in New York. Among the fashion houses that couldn’t do without her presence were Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung and Marc Jacobs.
"Her runway presence is so commanding, this girl is amazing! I’m just so glad that she's doing New York, truly one of the best faces of this fashion week!" rejoiced forum member Erebos. TheoG agreed: "Such a killer New York showing, after waiting two seasons seeing her back in NYC!"
4. Lineisy Montero (Next): 17 Shows
Lineisy Montero had her breakthrough last year and started off this season walking no less than 17 shows. The versatile stunner from the Dominican Republic opened Derek Lam and walked for Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, Lacoste and more. Forum members Riseup, fer19dog and simplylovely were thrilled to see her doing so well and walking blue-chip shows only.
3. Waleska Gorczevski (DNA): 18 Shows
A seasoned pro at the tender age of 18, Brazilian Waleska Gorczevski is a runway force like no other. The green-eyed brunette walked for 18 designers in New York, including Altuzarra, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger to name a few. Forum members were impressed by her appearances with guimon saying she deserves some campaigns.
2. Yasmin Wijnaldum (The Society): 18 Shows
Starring in Prada’s latest ad campaign lensed by Steven Meisel has made Yasmin Wijnaldum one of the most sought-after models of the moment. The Dutch 17-year-old made her New York debut opening Jason Wu, followed by appearances at Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein Collection, Rag & Bone, Proenza Schouler and more, making her the second most booked model of the week. It’s no surprise to see forum members Marc10 and John Black already calling her the star of the season.
1. Lia Pavlova (One): 23 Shows
Lia Pavlova is having quite the start to her season. With her quirky yet classic looks, the Russian native is a perfect fit on any runway. The blond beauty made appearances on the biggest runways, such as Coach 1941, Lacoste, Victoria Beckham and Altuzarra. Walking 23 shows in one week is no small feat and Lia is surely set to dominate the season. As stated by forum member Valentine27, "She was everywhere!"
With New York Fashion Week Fall 2016 officially behind us, it’s time to reflect on all the highs and lows of the collections in what is surely one of the most racially diverse seasons in recent history. Lineisy Montero, last season’s top catwalker, makes a triumphant return to our top 10 list, as does Maartje Verhoef and Greta Varlese along with some exciting newcomers.
