Transgender Model Andreja Pejic Is the Face of Reformation’s Politically (and Pie-) Conscious Holiday Line

We’ve just finished crunching the fall ad campaign diversity stats (stay tuned) and while big-name brands have yet to get with the program — zero transgender models appeared in this season’s spots — indie retailers keep our faith in progress strong.

Last June, Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel — makers of a semi-eponymous minimalist bag line that might ring some bells — featured transgender model, writer, actress and activist Hari Nef in their Tanya and Zhenya Posternak-lensed campaign. Yesterday, Los Angeles-based eco-friendly label Reformation released its holiday collection. The badass campaign imagery stars transgender model and LGBTQ advocate Andreja Pejic.

Pejic’s prior credits include covers for Marie Claire Spain, i-D, L’Officiel and New York magazine, turns on the Marc Jacobs, H&M Studio and Giles Deacon runways and features in Vogue and Interview. “We are always trying to push the boundaries of what’s ‘standard’ and break fashion stigmas, whether that be through supporting revolutionary production methods or embracing varying body types,” Reformation founder Yael Aflalo told Refinery29 of the campaign. “We feel that Andreja embodies a similar message — she is breaking the stigma of what it means to be a top model.”

#RefBabes the world over will be happy to note that not only is Reformation socially and politically conscious, it’s also aware of shopper’s holiday habits. The sultry, party-ready styles come equipped with adjustable waists and built-in shapewear so you can “have your pie and look hot, too.”

The “party clothes that are actually not uncomfortable” come in velvets and metallics, in the form of dresses, a jumpsuit, a bodysuit and a coat. We’d deem perhaps two pieces office shindig-appropriate — save these stunners for your off-duty bashes.

Priced between $128 and $248, the collection is now available on Reformation’s site. Shop the full range and watch Andreja Pejic slay holiday dressing — and fashion stigmas — in the slideshow below.
